HOW TO MAKE YOUR EYES LOOK BIGGER
There’s a no doubt about it- Bigger eyes are almost a beauty trend. It looks more youthful, awake and fresh. Sadly, everyone isn’t blessed with naturally bigger eyes but we can fake it with makeup. Here are some techniques that can help you to make your eyes look bigger and more beautiful.
DEFINE YOUR BROWS
Admit it, brows can change the appearance of your face. It frames up the entire eye area. Groomed arched eyebrows not only creates a flattering frame for the eyes but also accentuates the entire eye area making it appear bigger. Clean up the areas above and below the brows and then fill in the brows with an eyebrow pencil. Make sure to brush your brows upwards for more defined look.
BRIGHTEN UP DARK CIRCLES
Dark circles will set your eyes back and make it appear smaller. If you have severe dark circles start by applying a color corrector and then follow with a concealer (1-2 shades lighter than your foundation) to instantly conceal and brighten at the same time. Apply the concealer in a “V” shape under the eyes, it will instantly lift up the area and brighten up the entire face.
TIGHT LINE YOUR EYES
Tight lining your upper lash line (waterline) will add more dimension to your eyes. Just be careful not to hit your eyeball! Open your eyes while tight lining and apply a black eye pencil (avoid liquid) . You can also pull the eyes with one hand for extra help. This technique will instantly make your eyes look bigger. Avoid applying eye liner on the eyelid as it will take the space out of it and make them look smaller.
DEFINE YOUR CREASE
As you would contour your cheeks to give some shape and dimension, defining your crease will also add some dimension to your eyes. Sweep a matte eye shadow (brown or rosy color) slightly darker than your skin tone along the crease of your eyelid.
PLAY WITH SHIMMER
Yes, shimmery shadows are your best friend when you want those bigger eyes. Shimmery shadows catches the light, thus making your eyes look more lifted and awake. Dab on the center of the lid and on the inner corners of the eyes. Also apply a highlighter below the brow for an instant lift.
BRIGHTEN THE WATERLINE
Avoid a black liner in the lower waterline which can make your eyes look about half their size. Instead, fill in your waterline with a nude eye pencil to instantly open and bighten them. It will not only make your eyes look bigger but also much awake.
CURL YOUR LASHES
How many of you have a lash curler but often ignore it? While almost every women will have at least one eyelash curler in her makeup bag, it’s a step we often forget. That extra 10 seconds can immediately make your lashes wider and more open.
MASCARA, MASCARA, MASCARA
Hands down my favorite part of an eye makeup is mascara. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir and Hourglass Caution mascara are my favorites. Apply several coats to your upper lashes and see the difference. I also recommend a mascara that has tiny bristles like L’oreal Telescopic for the lower lashes. That sounds extra but believe me it works! I always follow this step.
APPLY FALSE LASHES
This is an extra step but it helps to further elevate your look. Try to apply a natural looking lashes than a more dramatic one. But if you are good to go with some mascara then don’t apply the lashes.
