MY EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

MY EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

There’s no denying that all of us want to have a clear and healthy looking skin. Following a good skincare routine and sticking to it is important to achieve a clean and glowing skin. I have previously mentioned in my post about how important is to have a skincare routine. I have a combination/acne-prone skin (tough to deal with) but following these skincare routine has cleared my acne and helped me to get less breakouts. Keep reading to find out my evening skincare routine that has transformed my skin.

1.  DOUBLE CLEANSING

Double cleansing is two-step cleansing method. First, you use an oil-based cleanser to wipe off makeup and oil buildup then you follow with a water-based cleanser to get deeper into the pores. You need to completely removes every traces of makeup before sleeping. Sleeping with your face makeup on can lead to dry skin, acne, and even wrinkles caused by collagen breakdown. Leaving eye makeup on can cause eye infections and broken eyelashes. Removing your makeup every night is very important. I start with Tatcha-Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil which is the best cleansing oil I have ever used. Then I follow with Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser which doesn’t dry out my skin. Together they are magical!

2. TONER

A toner completes the cleansing process of your skin removing the dust, pollution and impurities that can still be lingering after washing with a cleanser. It also brings back the moisture to the skin. I switch between Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner (more pore refining) and Thayers Witch Hazel Toner (moisturizing and soothing). If I am breaking out or need more deep cleaning I reach for Ole Henriksen and other days I reach for Thayers. And I love that both are alcohol free.

3. SERUM

Serums penetrate much deeper to the skin so it’s really important to apply a serum after a toner but before a moisturizer. I am currently using  Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Serum, which is an anti-aging serum. It improves skin’s key signs of youth: radiance, elasticity, firmness, skin tone, and smoothness. This is the only serum I have been using right now to see the results. It’s definitely smoothing and provides the radiance. It hasn’t done much for the skin tone yet but it has helped with the elasticity of my skin. So far I am loving it.

4. EYE CREAM

Yes, you need a separate cream for your under eyes. The skin around your eyes is thin and delicate. The regular moisturizer wont be as much effective as an eye cream. I prefer more lightweight, gel-like eye creams rather than heavy eye creams. Heavy eye creams doesn’t absorb well on my skin.  The Lancome Advanced Genifique Eye Cream is the one I have been using lately.

5. MOISTURIZER

I use an oil as my moisturizer and I cannot stop raving about how good it is for your skin. It provides more moisture than the regular moisturizer.  I switch between Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (which is technically an oil-based serum) and Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil. You will wake up to the perfect radiant skin.

6. LIP BALM

I have extremely dry lips so it’s really important for me to use a lip balm. I either go for Aquaphor or Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for extra hydration.

7. JADE ROLLER

So what’s a jade roller? Jade Roller is a skin-care tool that will cool, tighten, and depuff your face. Regular massaging with this roller will help to drain puffiness and unwanted toxins, contour the face and help smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It provides many healing and anti-aging benefits. I always use it as a last step to increase product absorption by massaging it in upward motion. It has really helped me in reducing the puffiness and is so relaxing. I place it in the refrigerator for the extra cooling effect.

EXTRA STEPS

I exfoliate (only at night) my skin 2-3 times a week depending on how my skin is feeling. Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser is my current go to because of how gentle and effective it is. I also use Kiehl’s Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask 2-3 times a week which helps to firm the skin.
